Import and Export Mappings

Mapping sets are used to categorize mappings so they can be reused or copied. Mappings can be exported to a mapping set and can then be imported into another Source in Map.

A default mapping set is delivered. Mapping sets can also be added on the System Types Mappings page and on the Export Field Mappings page.

To import and export mappings:

  1. Add a Mapping Set
  2. Import a Mapping Set
  3. Export Mappings

Add a Mapping Set

A default mapping set is delivered at installation. Mapping sets can also be added. When exporting mappings from Map, a user must select the mapping set that will store the mappings. Once  exported, the mapping set can be selected for import into other Sources.

Mapping sets can be added in Common or in Map while performing an export. Refer to Export Mappings for more information.

To add a mapping set to a System Type  in Common:

  1. Click System Types in the Navigation pane.

  2. Click the Target Mapping icon for a System Type.

  3. Click Edit for a mapping.

  4. Click the MAPPING SET ID list box.

    NOTE: This list box is the last column on the right.

  5. Click the + sign.

  6. Enter a name for the mapping set in the MAPPING SET field.

    NOTE: This name is selected  in the Mapping Set ID list box on the Export Field Mappings Vertical View when a user exports mappings.

  7. Enter a brief description of the mapping set.

  8. Click Save.

Import a Mapping Set

Import mappings to reuse or copy mappings or to use content delivered with Map.

To import mappings in Map:

  1. Verify mappings are set up for the Target Source in Common. Refer to Common documentation on System Types for detailed information.
  2. Click Map in the Context bar.
  3. Click the Targets icon on the Process Area Launch page.
  4. Click the Sources icon for a Target.
  5. Click Vertical View for the Source.
  6. Click the Import Field Mappings icon in the Page toolbar; all existing mappings for the target display.
  7. Select mapping records.
  8. Click the Import Mappings icon to import mappings from Common System Types; a confirmation message displays.
  9. Click OK.

Export Mappings

Export mappings from a System Type to save the mappings as a backup or to be imported into another Source. The export process exports field mappings to Common System Types and only inserts new mappings into Common. Existing mappings are not deleted or updated.

To export mappings from a Source in Map:

  1. Click Map in the Context bar.

  2. Click the Targets icon on the Process Area Launch page.

  3. Click the Sources icon for a Target.

  4. Click the Vertical View icon for Target Source.

  5. Click the Export Field Mappings icon.

  6. Click Edit.

    View the field descriptions for the Export Field Mappings page.

  7. Select a mapping set from the Mapping Set ID list box or click the + to add a mapping set.

  8. Click Save.

  9. Click the Export Mappings icon; a confirmation message displays.

  10. Click OK.
